Meet our Staff

Lucky C Stables has a small, well-rounded group of knowledgeable and friendly staff.  We understand the importance of safety and care when it comes to you and your horse.  We make it our mission to keep the farm beautiful and safe, leaving you with one less thing to worry about.

Susan Clark: Owner, Head Trainer & Riding Instructor-

Susan is a certified riding instructor with over 35 years of experience in teaching and riding.  Although she does not ride herself anymore, Susan has just the right ideas to improve each horse and rider while helping them to ride at their greatest potential.
Susan has a Bachelor of Science Degree from William Woods University where she spent 4 years studying different disciplines of riding.  Despite hunters/jumpers/equitation being the primary focus of Lucky C, Susan is also well versed in areas such as Western and Saddle Seat.  She has experience teaching and training horses and riders trying their first lesson, those preparing for a summer on the 'A' rated circuit and everyone in between.
Susan has brought riders to many esteemed shows including HITS Saugerties, Culpeper & Ocala, Winter Equestrian Festival, Vermont Summer Festival and the Hampton Classic to compete in divisions such as the Big Equitation, Junior Hunters, Childrens/Adult Hunters, Children/Adult Jumpers & Pony Hunters to name a few.  Susan's riders have qualified for prestigious events including the Pennslyvania National Horse Show, NEHC Medal Finals,  PHA Finals, M&S Finals and AQHA Congress as well as several local finals in the Hudson Valley area.  In addition to doing several shows a month, Susan is Head Coach of the SUNY New Paltz Equestrian Team and serves as coach to LCS' IEA Team.  Susan takes pride in her abilities to maintain and encouraging attitude whether her student's are in leadline or doing the Big Equitation.

Gary Clark: Owner, Farm Manager & CDL Licensed Horse Transporter -

Gary works hard every day to ensure the safety of each horse and rider.  Born and raised in central Missouri, Gary learned at a young age what it took to care for animals.  He and Susan moved back to New York to start this farm after they married in 1984.

At Lucky C Stables, Gary does it all! Most days he can be found fixing fence boards, mowing the fields, watering/dragging the rings and building new jumps.  Not only does Gary spend hours on these maintenance tasks, but he is also in charge of the feed and supplement regimen as well as the turnout program that occurs here at LCS.  He closely monitors each horse to ensure they're mantaining a proper weight and overall good health so it is one less thing for our customers to worry about.  Gary spends time evaluating each horse to see which type of turnout would work best whether it's turnout with one other horse, individual turnout or the more contained paddocks reserved for 1/2 day turnout.  He is also in charge of scheduling various appointments including the farrier and vet, as well as administering proper medication to the horses if needed.

As if that wasn't enough, Gary also ships our horses wherever they need to go.  With a New York State Commercial Drivers License and several years of experience driving commercially, Gary is very qualified to safely bring your horse wherever his destination may be.

Kristy Fink - Assistant Instructor & Rider:

Kristy Gilly

Kristy is no stranger to the Lucky C family.  She has been riding here since she was a kid and spent a few of her post-college years serving as the full time Assistant Instructor and Rider.  She has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Cornell University where she was the captain of the IHSA team.  She has a very diverse background in horses and in business.  After growing up on her parent's standardbred farm, Kristy learned the value of hardwork and dedication.  Her love of horses has remained with her, which enabled her to purchase a small farm of her own up in Greenwhich, NY where she is currently establishing notoriety in the Thoroughbred breeding world.  Kristy spent the past few years working at Schunnemunk Stables before her move upstate made the daily commute too far. She teaches Saturday and Sunday at our farm, does a fantastic job riding our horses and as no stranger to the show ring, she loves taking riders to horse shows on our busy weekends.  We are so happy to have her back!!

Tami Ward - Assistant Riding Instructor: Saturday's

Tami has been with Lucky C Stables for many fact she grew up riding here! These days, she makes it to the barn once a week to lend a hand and offer her teaching services to our beginner clients on Saturdays.  Tami has extensive experience teaching, as she has been doing it for quite a few years.  Her positive attitude and friendly personality encourages children to try their best during each lesson, creating the beginnings of the bond between horse and rider.  Although Tami used to ride and show herself, she now primarily focuses on teaching our beginner students.

Rebecca Jacobson - Assistant Instructor & Rider

Becca came to our staff the spring of 2015, looking to be involved in any way with horses and our farm. She has left our staff full-time, though she continues to remain assistant coach to our SUNY New Paltz Equestrian Team.  She is originally from New York City but realized her passion for horses when she was 6 years old and has been involved ever since.  She attended Alfred University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts; but realized her love for horses would guide her career.  After graduation, she was offered a position at Alfred where she worked until 2014 when she relocated to the Hudson Valley.  While working at Alfred, Becca helped coach their IEA team and IHSA teams as well as teach lessons, run their summer camp program, care for all their horses and train the new horses that were to be used in the program.  Becca believes in the fundamentals and importance of building a foundation in every rider.  With that being said, she loves to do this by engaging riders of all levels with the use of fun and creative riding activities and exercises!

Jess Anselmo - IEA Coach & Per Diem Instructor:

Jessica Anselmo holds a bachelor’s degree in equine studies from Centenary College. While in college she was captain of the IHSA team for two consecutive years and successfully led her team to win the national title in 2009.

In addition to her extensive team involvement, she has worked for Olympian Todd Minikus and has had other related positions, such as in-gate manager for horse shows such as Old Salem Farm, Sussex County and Gardnertown Farms. Jess also spent two years at Cloud 9 Farm in Pittstown, New Jersey, working as the director of equine rehabilitation where she was instrumental in the proper rehabilitation and care of top performance horses. After graduation, she accepted a position as barn manager for Robin Fairclough at Top Brass Farm where she assisted at many nationally rated and prestigious horse shows, including the Young Rider Championships. Jess also spent three years in Savanna, Georgia working for SCAD as the Associate Director of Equestrian Programs.

Jess eventually moved back to New York to follow her passion of teaching and riding and joined the team at Lucky C Stables as an assistant instructor and rider. In 2015, she chose to follow her newest passion in the field of health and wellness.  Jess returns to farm one day a week to coach the Lucky C Stables IEA team alongside Susan.
