Susan Clark: Owner, Head Trainer & Riding Instructor-

Susan

Susan is a certified riding instructor with over 45 years of experience in teaching and riding.  Although she does not ride herself anymore, Susan has just the right ideas to improve each horse and rider while helping them to ride at their greatest potential. Susan is very goal-oriented and specializes in developing successful programs for riders looking to improve their horse knowledge and riding abilities!

Susan has a Bachelor of Science Degree from William Woods University where she spent 4 years studying different disciplines of riding.  Despite hunters/jumpers/equitation being the primary focus of Lucky C, Susan is also well versed in areas such as Western and Saddle Seat.  She has experience teaching and training horses and riders trying their first lesson, those preparing for a summer on the 'A' rated circuit and everyone in between.

Susan has successfully coached riders at many esteemed shows including HITS Saugerties, Culpeper & Ocala, Winter Equestrian Festival, Vermont Summer Festival and the Hampton Classic to compete in divisions such as the Big Equitation, Junior Hunters, Childrens/Adult Hunters, Children/Adult Jumpers & Pony Hunters to name a few.  Susan's riders have qualified and come away with many ribbons at prestigious events including the Pennslyvania National Horse Show, NEHC Medal Finals,  PHA Nationals, Pony Finals, M&S Finals and AQHA Congress as well as several local finals in the Hudson Valley area.  In addition to doing several shows a month and overseeing our popular summer camp program,  Susan also serves as coach to LCS' IEA Team.  Susan takes pride in her abilities to maintain an encouraging attitude whether her student's are starting off in leadline or preparing for national finals.

Gary Clark: Owner, Farm Manager & CDL Licensed Horse Transporter -

Gary

Gary works extremely hard every day to ensure the safety of each horse and rider.  Born and raised in central Missouri, Gary learned at a young age what it took to care for animals, spending many of his early years working on cattle farms.  He and Susan moved back to New York to start this farm after they married in 1984.

At Lucky C Stables, Gary does it all! Most days he can be found fixing fence boards, mowing the fields, watering/dragging the rings and building new jumps.  Not only does Gary spend hours on these maintenance tasks, but he is also in charge of the feed and supplement regimen as well as the turnout program that occurs here at LCS.  He closely monitors each horse to ensure they're mantaining a proper weight and overall good health so it is one less thing for our customers to worry about. He is also in charge of scheduling various appointments including the farrier and vet, as well as administering proper medication to the horses if needed.  Gary is also our resident decorator for horse shows and holidays and scheduler of all travel plans when going to away horse shows.

As if that wasn't enough, Gary also ships our horses wherever they need to go.  With a New York State Commercial Drivers License and several years of experience driving commercially, Gary is very qualified to safely bring your horse wherever his destination may be. For shipping inquiries, please call 845-399-8860 and Gary may be able to help!

Kristy Fink - Assistant Instructor & Rider:

Kristy

Kristy is no stranger to the Lucky C family.  She has been riding here since she was a kid and spent a few of her post-college years serving as the full time Assistant Instructor and Rider. After growing up on her parent's standardbred farm, Kristy learned the value of hardwork and dedication, spending endless hours working around horses in every way she could. Kristy was an active member of our 4-H club for many years and has show experience. Kristy served as a prime example of a dedicated working student to pay for her riding expenses.

Kristy has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Cornell University where she was the captain of the IHSA team.  She has a very diverse background in horses and in business, even taking some time away from horses after college to pursue her Accounting career.  As it frequently does, the horse industry lured her back in and Kristy spent 5 years working at another local farm in New Windsor, partnering with LCS to help expose her students to the show world. Eventually, Kristy returned to LCS as a weekend instructor after she and her husband Jeremy (now with their adorable daughter too) made a move to horse country up in Greenwich, NY. There, Kristy has a small farm where she is currently establishing notoriety in the Thoroughbred breeding world.  Kristy returns to LCS to teach every Saturday and Sunday where she does a fantastic job teaching all levels and riding horses in training, when needed. Kristy is no stranger to the show ring and loves taking riders to horse shows on our busy weekends.

Tami Ward - Assistant Riding Instructor: Saturday's

tami

Tami has been with Lucky C Stables for many years...in fact she grew up riding here! These days, she makes it to the barn once a week to lend a hand and offer her teaching services to our newer clients on Saturdays.  Tami has extensive experience teaching, as she has been doing it for many years.  Her positive attitude, fun mentality and friendly personality encourages children to try their best during each lesson, while building their confidence to help create the beginnings of the bond between horse and rider.  Although Tami used to ride and show herself, she now primarily focuses on teaching our beginner students and helping keep our busy farm organized!

Jess Anselmo - IEA Coach & Per Diem Instructor:

jess

Jessica Anselmo holds a bachelor’s degree in equine studies from Centenary College. While in college she was captain of the IHSA team for two consecutive years and successfully led her team to win the national title in 2009.

In addition to her extensive team involvement, she has worked for Olympian Todd Minikus and has had other related positions, such as in-gate manager for horse shows such as Old Salem Farm, Sussex County and Gardnertown Farms. Jess also spent two years at Cloud 9 Farm in Pittstown, New Jersey, working as the director of equine rehabilitation where she was instrumental in the proper rehabilitation and care of top performance horses. After graduation, she accepted a position as barn manager for Robin Fairclough at Top Brass Farm where she assisted at many nationally rated and prestigious horse shows. Jess also spent three years in Savannah, Georgia working for SCAD as the Associate Director of Equestrian Programs.

Jess eventually moved back to New York to follow her passion of teaching and riding and joined the team at Lucky C Stables as an assistant instructor and rider. In 2015, she chose to follow her newest passion in the field of health and wellness.  Jess returns to farm to coach the Lucky C Stables IEA team alongside Susan and Gary, and can occassionally be found providing lesson coverage when needed.

Lindsay Clark, OTD, OTR/L - Per Diem Rider & Riding Instructor, Marketing & Advertising

LindsayBeau

Lindsay was born and raised at Lucky C...literally in the barn! As the daughter of Susan and Gary, she has been an active part of the business for over 30 years. Lindsay has been involved with teaching lessons and training horses her entire life and has a passion for working with challenging horses and ponies. She grew up riding with Susan at Lucky C until her teenage years when she branched out to train a young horse and compete in the Big Equitation, having the opportunity to train with incredible professionals including Kip Rosenthal and Lynne Peters. She was a working student for her trainers, which allowed her the opportunity to compete all over the East Coast and in over 20 National Finals, initially with her pony Beau (who is still in our lesson program) and eventually with her young horse.

She continued her equestrian journey in college where she made three consecutive trips to IHSA Nationals. In 2009, she won the coveted Cacchione Cup, in addition to being an active competitor on the 2009 IHSA National Champion team and 2010 IHSA National Reserve Champion team. Lindsay spent each summer between college working at Lucky C and with several incredible professionals including Kip Rosenthal and Olympic medalists, Neal & Elisa Shapiro where she had the opportunity to explore the jumper world. During her senior year of college she began picking up extra rides for Emil Spadone at Redfield Farm. Through her connection with Emil and receiving funds from a scholarship she won, Lindsay spent three incredible months after her 2010 graduation from Centenary College learning, riding and competing internationally for the notorious Stal Hendrix in the Netherlands before returning home to work at Lucky C full-time.

After several years of being actively involved in the farm, Lindsay found her career taking her in a different direction. In 2015, she returned to school to pursue a degree in Occupational Therapy. In 2018, Lindsay graduated with her Doctor of Occupational Therapy and is now a board certified Occupational Therapist. She still remains actively involved with the farm, continuing to manage our marketing, advertising, and social media accounts, braiding for shows and occassionally providing lesson and training coverage. When she is not at her full-time job, specializing in working with children with Autism, she returns to the farm for some horsey fun! Lindsay is currently pursing her PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor certification, which she hopes to complete in summer 2021!
